The mission is to research, share, and celebrate the historical and cultural significance of Adirondack Mountain toponyms. The goal to historically decode 1,000 toponyms began during March 2024 and was completed that June. Those 1,000 core entries total 150,000 words, while the features themselves spread across all the range's 92 towns. Findings are presented within publications and the Adirondack Onomastic Experience (AOE) interactive map. Layers will keep being added to this website and AOE to ensure a perpetual project.
